Homework: Data structures exam question review

Homework due Friday 8th February 2013

This homework requires you to complete the data structure questions from the past papers (Specimen through to Jan 2012), they are all question 5.


  • specimen Q5 Queues
  • Jan 2010 Q5 Searching, stacks and Quick sort
  • June 2010 Q5 arrays, file merging
  • Jan 2011 Q5 trees, static and dynamic structures, queues
  • June 2011 Q5 Insertion sort, stack
  • Jan 2012 Q5 Binary search, file merging, queues

Once complete you need to work through the mark schemes for these questions and mark your answers.
Your homework is to compile a report explaining for each subject of data structures, what the main points you should be making, make sure you use the mark scheme to ensure your aiming in the correct direction. This report will be a starting point for your revision on Data structures.
e.g.What are the key points to talk about when discussing stacks.
To ensure you don't duplicate but a heading for each of the following:

  • Arrays
  • Merging files
  • Trees
  • Static and dynamic structures
  • Serial and Sequential search
  • Binary search
  • Insertion Sort
  • Quick Sort
